The Birds of Assam & West Bengal

Duration : 12 Nights 13 Days


  • Day 1 - Arrival Guwahati
  • Upon arrival at the Guwahati airport meet with our representative & transfer to the hotel. If time allow we will have an excursion to Dipor Beel area to see Greater Adjutant Stork.
    Later return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

  • Day 2 - Guwahati - Kukurmara (70 Km) - Chandbubi (40 Km) - Kaziranga (250 Km)
  • In the morning, we will leave for Kukurmara for seeing Gangetic dolphin and water birds. Upon arrival at Kukurmara, board a country boat (without motor) for watching dolphins and birds. The Gangetic Dolphins commonly known as "Susu" in Ganges and "Hihu" in Brahmaputra and are found in large numbers on Kulsi River. Further we will drive to Chandubi Lake for watching some water and migratory birds. The beauty of the lake and its surroundings with its calm and peaceful nature attracts a sizable amount of migratory birds during winter. After lunch we will drive to our next destination Kaziranga National Park. Upon arrival, check into the pre-booked wildlife resort.
    Dinner and overnight stay at resort.

  • Day 3 - Kaziranga
  • Early morning, enjoy a Jeep safari in the Eastern Range (Agoratoli) of the park. Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for a jeep safari in the Western Range (Baguri) of the park. The area is excellent for birding. It includes nesting of the globally threatened Pallas's Fish Eagle and a colony of Spot-billed Pelicans. Migrant waterfowl may be observed at Shohola Bells. Various woodland birds can be seen along the drive through very scenic Dillenia Swamp Forest. Elephants may be encountered, as well Water Buffalo and Swamp Deer.
    Overnight stay forest camp / lodge.

  • Day 4 - Kaziranga
  • Early morning go to the riding point in the Central Range (Kohora) for an Elephant Ride. After the ride, return to the lodge for the breakfast. Later drive to the Central Range (Kohora) of the park for a jeep safari. Return to lodge for lunch. In the, afternoon, we will again go for a jeep safari to Central Range for some more birding. In the evening, return to the resort and enjoy some birding around the logistic.

  • Day 5 - Kaziranga
  • Morning Jeep safari in the Western Range (Baguri) of the park. Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, get ready for a natural walk in Burapahar area. Burapahar area is rich in birdlife and a very good place to look for Hoolock Gibbon the only ape species found in India and Malayan Giant Squirrel. Also, visit some Karbi tribe settlement if time permits.

  • Day 6 - Kaziranga - Nameri
  • Morning drive to Nameri (130 kms), on arrival at Nameri a biodiversity hotspot, the National Park & Tiger Reserves of Northeast India the park covers 200 Sq kms of area. On the way will have the glimpse of Tezpur city. Further, continue drive to Nameri. Upon arrival check into the campsite. In the evening, explore the pristine beauty of the campsite with chirping of the birds.
    Overnight stay at hotel.

  • Day 7 - Nameri National Park
  • Early morning we will go on trekking to the woodland of Nameri, mostly popular for bird watching. Back to resort for breakfast. Afternoon enjoy river rafting on the River Jia Bhoroli for water birds like - Ibis Bill, Ruddy Shelduck, Yellow Thick Knee, Plover, Kingfishers and many more. Carried out in rubber boats, it is mostly a floating experience on soft rapids.
    Later return to the resort for a night stay.

  • Day 8 - Nameri National Park - Guwahati - Kolkata
  • In the morning, we will go on a nature trail along the reserve. Here, we will be accompanied with the knowledgeable forest guides and armed forest guards. The forest treks are the best way to explore the Nameri National Park as it allows you to get very close to the wildlife. Here, one can spot the rare species of white-winged wood ducks and the great hornbills. Later return to the camp for breakfast. After the breakfast, we will leave for Guwahati. Upon arrival at Guwahati, transfer to the airport to board the flight for Kolkata. On arrival at Kolkata airport meet with our representative and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 9 - Kolkata - Sundarban
  • After an early breakfast we will leave for Godkhali and the boat jetty. The drive from Kolkata to Godhkhali will take about 03 hrs by road. Upon reaching at jetty we will board the motor boat for Sundarban Island crossing several rivers and streams like Hogli, Gomar, Durgaduani and Gumdi. After a two hrs boat cruise, we will reach the Island of Sundarban. Upon arrival transfer to the wildlife resort. After lunch we will explore the Sundarban national Park by motor boat with having some stoppage and Sajnekhali watch tower. Here, we will also visit the museum and mangrove interpretation center. The stoppage at watch tower will provide us an opportunity to view its wildlife and birds from very close. One can sight Brahminy kite bird soaring over the tower and streams. Also, hear the squawking of ringed parakeets. In the evening return to the resort for the dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 10 - Sundarban
  • In the morning, we will wake up with the sounds of chirping of birds followed by a cup of tea. After freshen up, we will board the motor boat for a thrilling experience inside the creeks and dense forest of Sundarban. Breakfast will be served on a boat. During our full day safari, we will be moving through various river and streams visiting a number of watch towers. We will also have a canopy walk inside the Do-banki watch tower. Here, we will also visit the deer rehabilitation center. After lunch on board we will be cruising through Malta River which merges in the Bay of Bengal from here we will able to see the Bay of Bengal.
    Later return back to resort for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 11 - Sundarban
  • Optional: One can also enjoy the tribal dance of Bonbibi - Here they will play the "Story of Dukhe", the landlord's son and "Goddess Bonbibi" who protects the honey collectors when they are in the forest to collect the honey. Bonbibi was a brave Muslim lady of the yore who is now worshipped as the protector of the forest - an apt example of the amalgamation of the Muslim and Hindu religion where one could find small temples with the idols of venerated Bonbibi.

  • Day 12 - Sundarban - Kolkata (Jetty By Motor Boat)
  • Our day will start with some easy bird watching in the morning. After breakfast we will board the boat cruise back to Godkhali. During our way back we will also have the glimpse of some water birds. Upon arrival at Jetty, board the vehicle for Kolkata and your pre-booked hotel. In the evening have stroll around the market.

  • Day 13 - Kolkata Departure
  • Transfer to the airport to connect for onward destination.
